Filming day is near, preparations continue!
Production blog number one, and I have yet to do any producing. Don't be concerned though, it's not because of my usual procrastination this time! This week has been one of the busiest so far this year. Despite the wonderful day off, I still have copious amounts of work to catch up on. Filming after school was never an option. It seems I get home, wind down for just an hour, and the sun is already down. So as my schedule has made it, the most ideal day for filming will be Saturday, this weekend.
The weekend is approaching, and I've been thinking a lot about the upcoming shoot. I've got my plan, my storyboard, and most of my materials. However, I worry the day of the shoot something won't go according to plan! My biggest concern is the impending gloomy weekend. As I've reiterated many times throughout this commercial process, that the natural, bright sun will be such a significant need for my artistic direction. I want that warm, sunny feeling for the shots, and a dark, drab day won't suffice. Worst case scenario, I could always turn up the warmness in editing?
On the topic of editing, in preparation for production day, I've been looking for a software editing to use. I have past experience creating filmed projects like these, and IMovie has always been adequate. This project is different though, because it is an actual film, using actual film techniques. Here, we're focusing on the shots and elements themselves, differing to past projects that were all concerned with information presented. I wasn't sure a software like IMovie would perform well enough for all the more intricate things I'd like to include! I want cutaways, words appearing, and the ability to add and layer music and sounds. Until then, it would be beneficial to practice and try something out while I have time, so as to not stress myself out this weekend.
Until production begins, I still must gather the last of my materials. Those being a tripod, a cooler, and a clean backyard! It's ideal to sort out as much production work before I start filming, so everything goes as smooth as possible.
