Staying Solo!
Today in class, my class was introduced to part of our final Cambridge exam: a two-minute opening sequence to a full-length film. A bit of a daunting task, I was a bit nervous as they began going into detail about what we'd be doing. However, I quickly eased up as creativity began flowing through my brain. I found myself brainstorming tens of ideas just there in class instead of paying attention to my teachers' instruction! With all these ideas I made the decision to work with myself for the third time.
For this project I decided to work alone again, like the other 2 projects I've done this year. I'm doing this again for many reasons, one being that I believe that by myself I can easily execute any ideas I have. With others, I often have a hard time comprising and collaborating. I will always think that my ideas are best, and have trouble taking bits of advice from others. Sounds slightly bad, I know. But every time I work with myself in my own space, I find that I create my best work. Another reason is so I can work completely on my own schedule. Last project I actually ended up filming just a night before the deadline! Again, sounds terrible, but I had tons of time to fully idealize what I wanted to create. And I still got it done, which would've been a problem if I had to deal with having other people part of the project. Another reason is that being solo, I won't have to rely on others. We all understand the trouble of group projects when some people don't hold their weight. Whether you working with your best friends, or a classmate you expect to be reliable, there always seems to be some trouble arising. None of this can happen when you are all alone and it is all on you!
One trouble with working alone on a film project like this is only having one person can give you some problems to work around. It is alright though because, for any lack of actors or need for extra hands, I can use my siblings! Overall, I'm excited to get to work on this project. Solo for the win!
